Naked rambler's six years in jail

Naked rambler Stephen Gough has spent more than six years in Scottish jails for refusing to put his clothes on.

Sometimes freedom has lasted only a few seconds as he has walked out of prison naked and been arrested again.

He has walked naked twice from Land's End to John O'Groats and had run-ins with English police – but the Scottish police and courts are a lot tougher on wandering around in your birthday suit.

One consolation I suppose is that it must be a lot warmer in jail than on the mountains.

Facebook, Twitter, texting and email can kill – thousands use their smartphones while driving

Thousands of people admit to putting lives at risk as they log on to social networking sites and email while driving.

According to the RAC, offences involving mobile phones while driving, and even being under the influences of drugs, do not have the same social taboo as drink-driving.

And insurers say that using a mobile phone while driving means you are twice as likely to have a crash. Police stats suggest that mobile use is a contributing factor in two per cent of road deaths.

A driver who kills someone while they are using a mobile phone could be jailed for 14 years.

UK riots: some sentences 'too severe', say MPs and justice campaigners

Some of the sentences handed out to people involved in the UK riots are too severe, according to MPs and justice campaigners.

Liberal Democratic MP Tom Brake believes they should be about "restorative justice" not retribution.

But a Tory MP disagrees. Gavin Barwell said a clear message should be sent that the country would not tolerate such behaviour.

Two men have been jailed for four years for using Facebook to incite riots and another man has been given an 18 month sentence for having a stolen television.

In my opinion, we should edge to wards "zero tolerance". Harsh sentences are justified if they stop looters and rioters.

Prisoner attempts jail break in suitcase - lover tries to wheel him out

A Mexican inmate tried to escape jail curled up inside a suitcase on wheels.

Juan Ramirez Tijerina made the attempt after a conjugal visit by Maria del Mar Arjona. Guards noticed that she appeared nervous and was pulling a suitcase that looked bulky. They checked the case and found Ramirez inside.

He is serving a 20-year sentence for illegal weapons possession.

Spam Japan or send a virus and you could end up in jail

Japan has outlawed sending spam and viruses. The country has been plagued by cyber attacks and is trying the fight the menace.

If you distribute a computer virus, you could be jailed for three years.

Don't know how they are going to deal with attacks from abroad - although governments worldwide are waiting to see if the new laws work and could impose their own.
