Nikkor 50mm f1.8 samples gallery posted by dpreview

Dpreview, the digital photography review site, has just posted a samples gallery using the latest Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.8.

The inexpensive lens, which will autofocus on numerous Nikon SLR bodies, looks pretty good.

Bear asleep in river with salmon - brilliant picture

Wildlife photographer Rick Sheremeta has captured a brilliant picture of an Alaskan bear asleep in a river cradling a salmon it has just caught.

Rick took the picture at McNeil River Falls, on the Alaskan Peninsula.

Olympus Pen EP-3: a micro four thirds camera everyone will want?

I have always been a big fan of the Olympus Pen digital... from the very first retro EP-1 camera to the EP-2.

It's a great travel camera and has given me good service, producing some punchy pictures without adding weight to the suitcase when travelling light. And it feels like a proper camera (almost, dare I say, like a film camera).

Now Olympus is to launch the EP-3 (pictured). And first reports suggest that it will be better than ever.

Kate Middleton family takes action over nude pictures in America

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Duchess of Cambridge's family have taken action over embarrassing pictures of her sister Pippa Middleton and brother James Middleton appearing on the internet in the USA.

Her family is said to be furious at what they say is a "betrayal" by friends.

The pictures, taken by friends, are believed to have been sold for substantial sums to American agencies.

Zuma Press, a US photo agency, said the pictures were withdrawn because they got "too popular"

The BJP wants entries for its International Photography Awards, now in its seventh year.

London to Brighton Veteran Car Run pictures: Madeira Drive, Brighton, Nov 7, 2010

Managed to get some great pictures of the Veteran Car Run this year on a beautiful day in Brighton. It was probably one of the best days I have seen in the many years of covering the event. What's more, the Daily Telegraph website featured 30 of my images.

This year, the pictures were taken with the great Canon 7D DSLR. With its high-speed drive, even in RAW mode, the camera was a joy to use... although I had to edit down more than 1,000 images!
