Close shave with a grizzly bear - tourist encounter in Alaska - amazing pictures
Tourists thought they were watching bears salmon fishing from a safe distance in Alaska's Katmai National Park.
Then a huge grizzly charged at them and the 10 tourists and a guide froze – which is fortunate because the grizzly was just being nosey. It circled them, sniffed one the group's hoods and finally wandered off.
Wildlife experts say that bear attacks are rare. Most occur when there are only one or two people in the area.

Are these the world's most beautiful cars?
The Los Angeles Times has an excellent display of what it says are the most beautiful cars in the world.
Top of the list for the Edmunds.com editors is the 1974 Lamborghini Countach LP400. Number two is the 1931 Duesenberg Model J Long Wheelbase Coupe.
Think I would switch those around and make the Duesenberg top dog.

Hitman for hire on the web - and everyone thought it was a joke, until...
Even the designer of a website called HitmanForHire.net thought it was a joke - but then the FBI and police in Ireland learned that a Las Vegas poker dealer was 'in business', according to the Los Angeles Times.
With a few clicks, the site promised that hiring a hit man was easy – and would-be killers could even upload their CV.
'Thanks to the internet, ordering a hit has never been easier,' said the website.
The amazing case of the hitman website was finally unravelled by FBI Agent Ingerd Sotelo and the whole story is well worth a read at: LA TIMES STORY

'UFO filmed in Rottingdean, Sussex' - yeah, right!
A red blob caught on video by a man in Sussex is claimed to be a UFO – and the alien watchers are jumping about again.
The Argus, Brighton, reports that David Flannery captured the mysterious blob in the sky over Rottingdean and it was chased away by helicopters.
'I was standing in Holmes Avenue and it was hovering in the sky over Kemp Town way... this wasn't a Chinese lantern. I know what they look like,' he told the Argus.
He apparently called the police and Ministry of Justice, 'but received no answers' - there's a surprise.
The report says Mr Flannery is 'from Sherbourne Close, Rottingdean'. But there doesn't appear to be such a close in the village, which blows a big hole in the story straight away. There is a Sherbourne Close to the west of Brighton in Hove/Portslade, which is, incidently, only 5 minutes away from Holmes Avenue!
The story has been picked up so far by the website UFOEvidence.co. Just goes to show how these stories do the rounds.
Two lovely comments on the Argus story include:
'You develop the technology to travel light years through space, you get there and are chased away by helicopters.'
'It has got to be true. Aliens travel millions of light years using technology beyond human understanding to investigate Rottingdean nightlife.'

Test-tube burger could be ready in October – scientists in Holland growing meat
An artificial burger made from meat grown in a test-tube could be available by the end of the year.
Scientists in Holland are working on a $330,000 project that involves stem cells from a cow and funds from an anonymous investor.
According to the Los Angeles Times, scientists led by Mark Post, chairman of physiology at Maastrict University, have already produced ‘several small strips of muscle tissue’. Once thousands more are made, they could be mashed together to make a burger.
The first burger made from test-tube meat could be available in October.

Airways turn blue: Jazz FM broadcasts porn; weatherman uses C-word by accident
The airways have been turning blue with ‘sex noises’ aired on radio and a weather man for the BBC accidentally letting slip one of the rudest words in the English language.
First, Jazz FM had to apologise when the soundtrack to an adult film, including moans and groans, was aired during the Funky Sensation programme.
Then, BBC weatherman Alex Deakin, broadcasting live, said “bucketloads of c---” instead of sunshine. Some viewers thought he tried to say the word "country", realised his mistake and stopped halfway through. A YouTube clip of the gaffe has been posted.

World's most expensive Cognac - Napoleon's bottle goes to auction
A Cognac that travelled with Napoleon Bonaparte on his conquests around Europe - and the last of its kind - is to be auctioned. And, at a whopping £114,500, it could become the most expensive Cognac in the world.
Made in 1795, it is among about 5,000 unopened bottles of spirits, worth about £5 million, belonging to a Dutch collector, Bay Van der Bunt.
Mr van der Bunt bought the hand-blown six-litre Jeroboam bottle from a Chicago collector in 1990 for £20,000.
He said: 'It travelled with Napoleon's army. You can just see it there lying with the others in the hay cart. After the battle – and probably before – the officers would drink from it.'
Mr van der Bunt will apparently vet prospective buyers to make sure the Cognac goes to a collector and isn't drunk!

Olympus OM-D E-5 - the camera I have always wanted?
Is this the camera I have always been waiting for? I'm a big fan of the original Olympus OM series 35mm cameras, with their superb lenses and compact bodies.
And now Olympus have launched a digital OM with classic styling and a Micro Four Thirds mount. If it is as good as the Pen series I would be happy - but it's supposed to be even better, with a 16MP sensor in a weather-sealed body.
State of the art in a classic body? Let's hope so.
The Olympus OM-D E-5 is expected to be available from April 2012 and will cost about £1,149.99 ($1,299.99).
