The world's first man-made organ has been transplanted into a cancer patient in Sweden.
The patient received a windpipe created from their own stem cells and an artificial "scaffold".
The Telegraph reports: "Prof Paolo Macchiarini, a Spanish surgeon, carried out the 12-hour transplant operation. He praised the construction technique, which meant that 'custom-made' windpipes could be produced within a week."

Why can't an alligator's wind pipe be used? WIth stem cell technology, it is a natural material and would help out hundreds of problems with trachea disfuctions. We harvest gators that are a nuisance and it is such a waste to throw away these usable parts.
