Florida mayor shuts down police force after marijuana found in her garden - video

Oak Hill eliminates police department: MyFoxORLANDO.com

A MAYOR in Florida has shut down the entire police department after 10 marijuana plants were found in her garden and allegations of corruption. The sheriff's department was then called in to run enforcement in the area.

Mayor Mary Lee Cook, 84, of Oak Hill, Florida, said she believed someone from the force planted the cannabis on her property to damage her reputation.

She called a special meeting to present other complaints against the police chief and, during a discussion, commissioners said it was best to "terminate the entire department".

The sheriff's department says Mayor Cook was not aware of the drugs on her property and had not been charged.
