Sniffer dogs can be used to detect lung cancer, claim German scientists

Doctors in Germany say that sniffer dogs can be used to detect lung cancer, according to a BBC report.

Scientists don't know exactly what chemical the dogs can sniff out, so a programme to screen people could be a long way off.

It is thought that tumours produce "volatile chemicals" which a dog can detect.
