When 10-year-old Michael Dasher went on a school fishing trip in Rockledge, Florida, he didn't expect to hook a monster - then he reeled in a 4ft alligator.
As Michael's friends made a dash for safety, he taped up its mouth and took it half a mile home to show his grandfather, Benjie Cox, and the rest of the family. Mr Cox said: "He ain't scared of nothin. Nothing."
The alligator was later released (tampering with wildlife is an offence in Florida).
A spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission said Michael received a stern warning: "He knows now that we don't mess with alligators. The next time, he'll run."
