Six people died when 166mph winds ripped through the southern Illinois town of Harrisburg. Others died in Missouri and Tennessee.

F-16 jets scrambled as woman, 75, flies into restricted airspace with no radio

Two F-16 jet fighters were scrambled when Myrtle Rose, a 75-year-old pilot, flew her Kitfox Model 2 light aircraft into restricted airspace during president Barack Obama's visit to Chicago.

They were scrambled when air traffic controllers couldn't contact Myrtle, of South Barrington, Illinois, because she didn't have a radio!

She was reported to have been a bit "surprised".

Paul Gutierrez, 38, is offering half his annual salary to anyone who can find him a wife. The lonely heart's last attempt to find a bride didn't go too well: she jumped out of a window to escape.

The former soldier from Illinois, USA, makes the offer on his blog, called Can Anyone Find Me a Wife. The website is a collection of hilarious tales of Paul's failed attempts to find someone to love.
