What do the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Ursula Andress have in common?

What do the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Ursula Andress have in common - and it's not an arch span of 503 metres?

Sydney Harbour Bridge, the one with the big arch, about 6,000,000 rivets and 52,800 tons of steel, was opened on this day (March 19) in 1932, having taken eight years to construct.

Ursula Andress, who caused the first generation of James Bond wannabes to be riveted to their seats, was born on this day in 1936.

The Swiss actress won a Golden Globe for that first Bond-girl role, emerging from the Caribbean in a white bikini and belt as Honey Ryder in Dr No (1962), and set the standard by which all Bond girls - and even Bonds themselves - are now judged.

In 1995, she was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the "100 Sexiest Stars in film history".

007's new car – a double-decker bus on the streets of London for the new James Bond film

James Bond's car for his next film, Skyfall, will be a big, red London bus, according to the Sun. Scenes being filmed around London involve a new Routemaster, brought back to the streets of the capital by mayor Boris Johnson after the double-deckers were scrapped by previous mayor Ken Livingstone.

The plot of the 007 film, starring Daniel Craig, is a secret, but the bus involves action in Trafalgar Square.

Good publicity for Boris, who hopes to be re-elected on May 3.

Licence to cook - forget James Bond, 007 - MI6 beats terror website with cake recipes

When would-be terrorists logged on to an Al-Qaeda website to learn how to make a homemade bomb, they were given instructions on how to make fairy cakes instead, thanks to MI6.

Cyber warfare experts from British intelligence had hacked into the site and garbled the text with recipes.

Eat your heart out 007. What James Bond really needs is a licence to cook.

Those new films in full:

GoldenPie
On Her Majesty's Silver Service
Fairy Cakes Are Forever
Quantum of Molasses
A View to a Filling

And many, many more, no doubt
