Pony trapped inside tractor tyre - released by firefighters in Germany

A pony trying to graze on fresh grass under a huge tractor tyre slipped and fell head first. It then became trapped, with one leg poking out and its head pushed into the ground.

German firefighters used cutting equipment to release the animal.

Must-see video on the Telegraph site of a four-week-old kitten being rescued from a three-inch metal pipe by firefighters in Redding, California, when someone took the tube into the fire department after hearing the animal's cries.

How on earth did it get in there?

The kitten, now called Piper, has been adopted by a TV station worker.
