Town's police force quits after drug attacks - Mexico smuggling route to US

The entire police force of 26 officers in Ascension, a town in northern Mexico, has resigned after two of its number were killed by drug traffickers.

The town is on a drug-smuggling route into the US and is used by a powerful cartel.

Federal and state police, plus the army, have been brought in to maintain order.
